coL.Acad Fuzzy & Ero-Sennin Interviewed by ESFI World

October 29th, 2012

Recently the great people over at ESFI World sat down with two players from The compLexity Academy to talk about their gaming experience and up coming events.

The first player interview is with Nick “Fuzzy” Degtiarev, one of The Academy’s star Zerg players, currently training in the compLexity Gamma Gamers House.

ESFI Writes:

ESFI: How has the compLexity Academy been helping you reach that goal so far?

Fuzzy: compLexity Academy gives a lot of opportunity to play in tournaments, like ESEA’s league and coL showmatches. It also gives each player in the program the opportunity to get free trips to MLG events. For me, the most beneficial thing was not having to pay for my MLG trips as well as getting the chance to live in a team house environment and practicing / interacting with everyone on a day-to-day basis.

ESFI: Have you noticed a significant change in your play as of yet?

Fuzzy: I have noticed a change in my play since coming to the team house, not only in-game but also IRL, living in a team house atmosphere has helped a lot. In the game I feel like all my matchups have improved from playing against good players each day and my overall mechanics have also become more solid.

ESFI

The second Academy player interview is with Sean “Ero-Sennin” Gough, a fantastic Protoss player who is also currently training at the compLexity Gamma Gamers House.

ESFI asks:

ESFI: You and Fuzzy just moved into the house a few weeks ago. How are you liking it so far, and what do you enjoy the most about the house?

Ero-Sennin: I’m enjoying it very well, the housemates are very friendly, and it is a very welcoming atmosphere; really couldn’t ask for much more than that. The thing I enjoy most is I get to play computer games and I don’t have to think about shoveling any snow as I did in Minnesota.

ESFI: Recently, Sasquatch got bumped up from the Academy to the main squad. Does seeing that motivate you even more to be the next one called up?

Ero-Sennin: Yeah it definitely does, whether it had been Sasquatch or someone else, the potential to get “called up” so to speak, is definitely a motivating factor to try hard to stand out.

ESFI

Hopefully these interviews gave you a decent impression of Nick and Sean. We at The compLexity Academy believe very strongly in growing the American StarCraft II scene. Keeping that in mind, please follow both of these players on Twitter or check them out when you see them streaming. They are training extremely hard for the up coming MLG Fall Championship. Keep an eye out for these players at the event. We believe they’ll be making a great impression.

VOD: coL.Academy vs Team EG – ESEA Playoffs

October 24th, 2012

VOD

Last week, the compLexity Academy took on Team Evil Geniuses in the Lower Bracket Round 1 of the ESEA Playoffs. Both EG and coL.Academy had rough starts to the ESEA playoffs, losing in upsets to teams who were seeded much lower. Which team will kick it into high gear and bounce back? The winning team will advance further into the Lower Bracket while the other is eliminated.

Samsc2 will be casting the replays of the games. The cast is scheduled to start at Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 3:00 PM PDT / 6:00 PM EDT.

The following is the match-ups for the games:

(Z) Fuzzy vs. (Z) Suppy
(P) Ero-Sennin vs. (Z) IdrA
(P) Kyo vs. (Z) LzGaMeR
(Z) Sasquatch vs. (P) iNcontroL

This is obviously a huge match for coL Academy. Team EG has some of the strongest players around, but our guys in the Academy won’t let that intimate them. They have been training hard for this match and eagerly awaiting a shot at one of North America’s most established teams.

coL.MoonMeander Interviewed by GosuGamers

October 22nd, 2012

The good people over at GosuGamers just posted an interview with compLexity’s Heroes of Newerth star MoonMeander. For those of you who are not familiar with the HoN scene, compLexity recently won the DreamHoN Online Summer Championships: Redemption with a score of 3-0 versus Trademark eSports. This win earned coL.HoN $4,000 plus a free trip to DreamHack Winter in Sweden.

As you would expect, GosuGamers asked about coL.HoN’s plans and preperations for DreamHack, as well as touching on living in the compLexity Gamma Gamer House, team chemistry, and the upcoming HoN Tour.

GG: DHW is one month away, how do you and the team prepare for the big event? Any special plans?
Not going to give away any information on our “special plans,” but we definitely have some up our
sleeves, like other any team should. We’re preparing by scrimming regularly (no surprise there).

GG: What was your first thought, as soon as you got the confirmation that you are going to return to
Sweden?

My first thought was the atmosphere and meeting everyone and my fans again. We were all overjoyed
and yelling on Skype the moment we won our tickets so I’m sure my teammates feel the same way.

VOD: compLex Strategies, Episode 1 with qxc and Fuzzy

October 22nd, 2012

VOD – Episode 1 with qxc and Fuzzy

compLexity Gaming is proud to announce that it will be putting on a new show dedicated to the pro strategies of some of the best players in the StarCraft II scene. Dubbed compLex Strategies, the new show hosted by Samsc2 will feature players from both the main compLexity team and the Academy as they share their knowledge on the game.

“compLex Strategies” will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 3:00 PM PDT / 5:00 PM CDT / 6:00 PM EDT. To watch, all you have to do is tune into Samsc2’s stream.

The first show will feature both qxc and Fuzzy as they go over how to properly execute specific builds, strategies on specific maps, and how to react to your opponents and adjust strategies accordingly.

Please tune into every broadcast you can and let us know what you think. We at compLexity believe very strongly in growing American StarCraft II talent. A large part of growing this talent is getting these players names out in the community. Thanks to the hard work of Samsc2, we feel like we’re on the right track. That said, there’s always room for improvement, so let us know what you think and what we can improve on.

coL.Sasquatch vs Team RIP ZeeZ Showmatch

October 22nd, 2012

Tonight coL.Sasquatch will be taking on Team RIP ZeeZ in a showmatch hosted by Samsc2. This will not be your conventional showmatch. Samsc2 has set up a series of challenges to make things interesting.

But before we get into the format of the showmatch, some of you may be wondering who are RIP ZeeZ. RIP ZeeZ is a StarCraft II team that is affiliated with the comedy website SomethingAwful.com. They welcome players of all levels, meaning it’s more of a clan than a professional team.

Because of RIP ZeeZ’s clan atmosphere, we thought it would be interesting to add some modifiers to the showmatch. Organized into a series of five challenges. Sasquatch is sure to have his work cut out for him.

Bo3 Standard 1v1 – To open we will have the Rip Zeez Austrialian Protoss player, Zugz take on Sasquatch in a conventional 1v1.

Half Price Platinum! – A zeez Platinum player will be taking on his first professional player, but with this caveat: the coL player known as partSasquatch will be shaved down even further to halfpartSasquatch, as Sasquatch will play this match with 50% health on his units and buildings. Will the Platinum player take the win in his run against Sasquatch, or will will the half man half wildikin still prevail?

Blizzard Approved Map-Hack! – Have you ever thought, man I would be Grand Master Rank 1 easy if I just used a maphack, well now that theory will finally get the test it deserves. A Diamond zeez player will take on Sasquatch… with the best maphacking tools known to man; SamSC2 will add the Diamond player to his cast and then, SamSC2 will not only alert the Diamond of Sasquatch’s every move, every building, every drop, but he’ll even be adding helpful insight, such as ‘build a probe’, ‘build a marine’, “no, No, NO! What are you doing I told you to move your army there!!!!”

Strength in Numbers – Playing a Professional GM by yourself is a bit unfair, so we’ll be taking a Platinum player and adding a Silver partner. Together these two zeez players will attempt to out-cheese, out-macro, and out-smart coL.Sasquatch, hoping to prove that team play is where true skill lies.

Bo3 Standard 1v1 – Finishing it off, we’ll be returning to a “standard” Bo3, if you can call the self proclaimed Son of MVP and Prince of Mech facing a giant partially mythological creature known as Sasquatch ‘Standard’. ZeeZ Ace LemonyTang will be showing off mech play, favoring hellion and tank run by’s to harrow his opponents economy, while maintaining patiently out-positioning his opponent with mech, this will be an interesting ZvT.

The showmatch is set to kick off at 9:00 PM EDT and will be streamed on Samsc2’s Twitch.tv channel. With all the hijinks going on in this showmatch, you’re not going to want to miss it.

coL.TriMaster Interviewed by GameZone

October 21st, 2012

Recently compLexity’s TriMaster had a chance to sit down with Dustin Steiner, eSports editor for GameZone, to talk about his second place finish at the World Cyber Games USA Nationals.

DS: Going up against your teammate QXC must’ve been tough in the finals – tell me what was running through your head in the minutes before, and during your matches.

TM: I play against QXC quite often here at the Gamma Gamer House so I don’t think my mindset really changed much. The only thing I was thinking about before the matches was to make sure I could focus 100% on the games. During the matches I made sure not to let any mistakes or losses tilt my mindset and that I was able to start each game with a calm mind.

In addition to WCG, TriMaster also spoke about how he got into the pro scene, playing with his younger brother SniXSniPe of the compLexity Academy, and his current thougts on Heart of the Swarm.
