coL.HoN Wins DreamHoN Redemption!

September 30th, 2012

Update

compLexity proved why they are considered to be the world’s best team as they took down Trademark eSports 3-0 to secure the victory in the DreamHoN Redemption tournament, bringing home $4,000 and a trip to Dreamhack, which due to coL already having won the DreamHoN Summer Championship, will go to tDM.

DreamHoN Online Summer Championships: Redemption – GRAND FINAL

compLexity Gaming vs. TradeMark eSports

compLexity.HoN has defeated TradeMark eSports 2 games to 1 in what was a tightly contested series. After going down in the first game, coL.HoN managed to claw their way back in taking the second and third maps. In the third map coL.HoN used a level one kongor strategy in order to give them an early game advantage to which they carried through to the end.

In a completely similar situation to the DreamHoN Summer Championships, TradeMark eSports has managed to defeat Team Tt eSPORTS in the loser’s bracket final and will therefore meet up with compLexity in the grand final of yet another tournament.

The matches will be at the same time as yesterday, starting at 12:00 PM EST (18:00 CET) and will be played in a best of five format. compLexity.HoN will start one series up as this is a double elimination tournament. Matches will be streamed like on Honcast as shown below. Like most of the other matches streamed by Honcast there is likely to be pre-game interviews from both teams so be sure to tune in early to get full value from the production.

PG2: DreamHoN Redemption: Winner’s Final – coL.HoN Vs. tdM

DreamHoN Online Summer Championships: Redemption

compLexity Gaming vs. TradeMark eSports

compLexity.HoN has had a successful run in the DreamHoN Redemption Tournament, and alike the previous DreamHoN tournament, they have remained undefeated throughout, that is up until they went up against TradeMark eSports. A month later, and a new tournament, we find ourselves in yet another compLexity Vs. TradeMark eSports winner’s bracket final.

In the DreamHoN Summer Championships coL.HoN was able to defeat tdM in the winners bracket final 2 games to 1, and then again in the Grand Final 2 games to 0. Since those games TradeMark has shown a great deal of improvement through their hard work and dedication, and they recently took down compLexity (2-0) in the Vanguard Gaming Open, and although it wasn’t the full coL.HoN roster it was certainly a confidence booster for tdM.

Today compLexity.HoN will be up against TradeMark eSports in the Winner’s Bracket Final of the DreamHoN Redeption Tournament. The match will begin at 12:00 PM EST (18:00 CET) and will be played in a best of three format. Matches will be streamed like on Honcast as shown below.

coL.HoN’s Chessie Releases ‘Ophelia’ Hero Guide

September 27th, 2012

compLexity.HoN’s Chessie Releases ‘Ophelia’ Hero Guide

After a lot of demand from fans, coL.HoN’s main jungler, Chessie has decided to start doing Hero guides for fans. He starts off with a guide on Ophelia, a hero that is difficult to play in the eyes of many. The hero has had a significant effect on the HoN competitive scene for some time and is generally considered as a top tier pick for most drafts.

This is what Chessie had to say with regards to the guide:

Hello everyone! With my recent success with Ophelia in competitive play, I’ve gotten a massive response from people who wants to learn how to master this amazing hero. The requests for coaching and assistance has been overwhelming, and since I simply do not have time to coach each and every one who wants to learn, I came up with the idea to make the coaching FREE for everyone on a streaming-session!

What you can expect me to cover in this session:

  • Starting items for different matchups
  • Later items for different matchups
  • How to maximize the farm for fast early levels
  • How to sucessfully beat a parasite chasing you
  • How to stack multiple camps easy and effective
  • Which creeps to use and WHEN!

Be sure to check out the VoD of the guide here:

MLG Launches MvP Invitational Today Ft. qxc and Sasquatch

September 27th, 2012

Today marks the start of MLG’s newest online tournament, the MLG vs Proleague Invitational. Running from 9/27 to 10/29, this 48 player online tournament will see the top 24 KeSPA players facing off against the best 24 players MLG has to offer (twelve from North America, six from Europe, and six from Korea and Taiwan). MLG is offering a $10,000 prize pool plus the top 8 will be placed into group play in the MLG Fall Championship.

This is obviously a huge tournament featuring the best players on the planet. We at compLexity are pleased to announce that two of our players have been invited to play: Kevin “qxc” Riley and Gage “Sasquatch” DuBose. In fact, qxc is scheduled to play the legendary Brood War player Flash.

Right now the broadcast schedule is little hazy. MLG has three matches listed for each of the schedules broadcasts, but also states “1-2 Additional Featured Matches will be announced day of broadcast.” There’s also an online poll for each of the broadcast dates where viewers can vote on which matches they’d like to see. For the full broadcast schedule including dates, match-ups, and polls, click here. It’s very important that you check out the polls because qxc vs. Flash is one of the games up for broadcast is the viewers want it.

To watch the games, purchase a $9.99 ticket here. Commentary will be provided by Nick “Axslav” Ranish and Alex “Axeltoss” Rodriguez from MLG’s NYC studio headquarters. The broadcast start at 7:00 PM EST.

coL.Acad Ero-Sennin Moves into Gamma Gamers House

September 27th, 2012

The compLexity Academy is very proud to announce that another one of its members will be moving into the compLexity Gamma Gamers House. Currently slated to move in on Thursday Sept 27th, Ero-Sennin will be joining teammate Fuzzy and newly promoted Sasquatch in Houston, Texas.

The compLexity Academy commissioner Michael “Twixz” Shane sat down with Ero-Sennin to discuss the upcoming move.

First off congratulations on being picked to move into the team house, how did you feel when you found out you would get this opportunity?

It felt very rewarding. From about 2001 onward, there’s always been the dream of going to a pro house. In BW this would just be about Korea but in SC2 brand new doors have been opened, so to be able to get this opportunity, it’s very exciting.

Who was the first person you told, and what was their reaction?

First person I told was one of my practice partners and friend for the past few years, Semih. He offered his congratulations with a blanket of expletives ^^

Have you ever taken such a big step towards becoming a professional gamer?

No, I haven’t taken anywhere close to the extent that this opportunity is allowing me to take. The only thing that comes to mind is that in 2003, after about two years of playing BW, I paid a small amount of money to play in pay-to-play league, WGTour’s WSL. I went 1-1 against a Korean pro who was on the Korean Dream Team. My thought was, this is good, perhaps I should go and try to win a WCG qualifier that is out of state. But I wound up taking two years off and that never went through.

What are you most excited about for when you get to the team house?

Texas women. Oh, and the smell of 10 other sweaty dudes in a team house. And the chance to practice a lot of StarCraft, yeah, pretty much in that order too.

Who are you most looking forward to playing/practicing with that is already at the team house?

Oh I’d have to say QXC bar none. I mean, my God he’s the bandana Terran. My mom use to read me stories about him at bedtime.

The academy guys from the team house have really been showing some skill, do you feel any pressure to match their results since moving to the house?

Oh there will always be pressure, but playing in competitive sports and working in a field where you have to be quick on your feet, it’s all about how you handle the pressure.

I think if I play as well as I can play, that will speak for itself. I use to play a game that only had about one tournament a year for foreign players, that tournament had a span of about 10 qualifiers, and if you didn’t make it… well, you had another year to wait. So, I’m used to playing with pressure.

Not to toot my own horn and I’m not big-headed enough to think anything I’ve done in SC2 rivals the showing that Sasquatch had last MLG, but I have the background to beat decent players, and I have. And I’ve beat some Korean players that have made it to the OSL in SC2 while I put in 2 hours a week practicing. Granted I played them cross-server so there’s always lag to think about and the fact that they may not be giving it their all, but sometimes a win is a win.

Thank you for your time, is there anyone you would like to thank or just give a shout-out to?

Thanks to everyone who have allowed me to take this opportunity. Thank you especially to the sponsors and thanks to the CEO of Origin PC for following me on Twitter. It was a very pleasant surprise.
