compLexity CrossCounter is LIVE from Las Vegas, Nevada at the Rio Resort and Casino as they compete in the Evolution World Finals for 2011.
If you’re new to the fighting game scene and Evo is something that is new to you, here’s a very brief primer: As the world’s largest open fighting game tournament, the Evolution Championship Series has grown into a global event attracting thousands of competitors of the highest caliber from all over the world seeking victories, cash prizes, and community respect. For more than a decade, the tournament is where new talent emerges as champions, and where reigning champions grow into legends.
However, in recent years, Evo has evolved (no pun intended) into something more. It’s where community members and players ranging anywhere from the casual gamer and spectator to the hardcore tournament junkie can gather en masse and connect to meet in person, learn about the newest fighting game titles and hardware, witness the history in the making, and most importantly, throw down against opponents from all over the world. No matter who you ask, they’ll all tell you the same thing: If there’s only one event you can attend, Evolution is the tournament you will not want to miss.

Update: After the first day of MLG Anaheim 2011, we have given away 10 compLexity jerseys to fans with coL signs!
Today marks the beginning of MLG Anaheim which is sure to become one of the more epic eSports events of the year. As previously mentioned, compLexity will be on site with a large contingent of representatives (over 20).
Over the years one of the more enjoyable aspects of our jobs has been the opportunity to meet fans at live events. This time we’ve decided to give a bit back. During the event, coL managers and staff will be walking the floor looking for fans who have made compLexity, coL.MVP or coL.TriggersDown signs. (Your sign needs a coL logo on it.) Starting Friday night, the first 15 people holding those signs will get a free compLexity jersey as our thank you.
If you’re in the area, be sure to come out and enjoy the event! We’d love to meet you and help make your MLG experience just a bit more fun. Thanks very sincerely for all your support over the years.
See you in Anaheim!
Heroes of Newerth is going free to play as of today. The action RPG has introduced three tiered accounts in a bid to attract new players into its community and keep the existing 460,000 active players happy.
New players can sign up for a Basic account which can be upgraded to a Verified account once they’ve surpassed a certain play time. Players who have already paid for the game will get a Legacy account that will let them play matches against other verified accounts. Legacy account holders also have the option of purchasing new heroes early before their free release.
With the transition to free-to-play we’re opening Heroes of Newerth up to new audiences as our players can now easily introduce the game to their friends,” says Marc DeForest, co-founder of S2 games. “With the new account types and match-making standards in place, both novice and existing players will benefit from the upgraded structure.”

Tonight, CompLexity’s Drewbie will be taking on ClouD from the team Meet Your Makers in the second round of the Lower Bracket in IGN’s Pro League. Last week, ClouD was knocked into the Lower Bracket by imba.FXOStrelok with a score of 2-0. Drewbie, on the other hand, took out DieStar with a score of 2-1.
The match is set to begin at 8PM EST.
TeamLiquid, via their Road to Anaheim series, has conducted an interview with DongRaeGu from coL.MVP. The interview discusses his expectations for MLG Anaheim and how he feels about being considered one of the front-runners to win the entire event.
Below is an excerpt from the interview:
As foreign tournaments began getting larger, many Korean players started playing overseas. In addition we heard that the October GSL finals will be held in Anaheim also. What do you think about Starcraft 2 going global?
Well if you’re someone who only lived in Korea… you probably fantasize about going overseas. But I think it’s a very good phenomenon, as you’re not limited to just Korea but you get to test yourself in various countries and have opportunities to communicate with fans.
This is your first time going overseas to a tournament. Is there anything you’re worried about, and how are you preparing for this tournament?
If there’s anything special I’m worried about… the biggest worry I have is that I might go there and do a bad job managing my condition and play really pathetically. In terms of preparation, I’m preparing just as I normally do.

FOCUS has posted and you can watch it here or embedded at the bottom of this post. Be sure to let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.
Today TV channel G4 announced it’s newest project; G4 Films. According to the news post, G4 will “find, develop, produce and license full and short films that are related to the passion we all share… video games.”
The first project from G4 Films, which hits tomorrow, is called FOCUS. This full-length documentary follows everyone’s favorite member of the Fighting Game Community, not to mention one of CompLexity’s newest family members, Mike Ross as he trains and competes in EVO 2010.
Even if you’re not a fan of fighting games, you should try and check the documentary out. Mike Ross is a great guy and deserves to get some attention from people outside the Fighting Game Community. Also, if there’s enough buzz around these kinds of eSports documentaries, chances are G4 might start making a documentary about your favorite eSports.
Unfortunately G4 didn’t say exactly when and how to watch FOCUS (TV or online). I assume it will be on the G4 website considering I don’t see it scheduled on either my cable box guild or the G4 website. Keeping that in mind, check out G4tv.com/FOCUS to get all the details as they are posted.
