Today’s round of the TSL3 saw CompLexity’s CrunCher take on Evil Genuses’ IdrA. After much anticipation and a little bit of smack talk, CrunCher was able to bring home the win. Both players displayed an astounding amount skill and strategic thinking, but ultimately CrunCher proved that he’s no “walk over.”
Game one was on Shakuras Plateau in cross prositions. CrunCher opened up with a Forge fast expand, mirroring IdrA’s own fast expansion. In a surprising strategic move, CrunCher when with an unorthodox fast tech to StarGate allowing him to get out one Void Ray and three Phoenix. Unfortunately for CrunCher IdrA scouted this build and mustered a strong Roach, Hydra, Corruptor army. After a long arms race, Idra initiated the first battle around the sixteen minute mark. Luckily, CunCher had a strong enough force to beat back IdrA’s aggression. Utilizing this momentum, CrunCher easily walked across the map forcing IdrA to leave the game without saying “gg.”
Game two was on the GSL map Terminus RE and, again, the players spawned in cross positions. CrunCher went with the same build he used in game one. IdrA must have expected this because, after getting three expansions, he teched to Hydralisks and researched Overlord drops. Abusing CrunCher’s immobile army of Stalkers, Collusus, and Void Rays, IdrA was able to drop the back of CrunCher’s main and his third expansion all while pushing the front door. CrunCher tried to hold on as long as he could, but each wave of drops was just too cost effective for IdrA and eventually forced a “gg.”
Game three was on the GSL map Crevasse and the players spawned at close positions. CrunCher utilized some pretty impressive mind-game play, by opening with a gateway but then transitioning to a expansion at the in-base natural. IdrA did the typical fast expansion focusing on a Zergling Roach unit composition. After IdrA scouted CrunCher’s second base by sacrificing an Overlord, CrunCher switched gears into a six Warpgate push. Thanks to some amazing Pylon placement and absolutely breathtaking Forcefields, CunCher was able to walk right over IdrA’s army forcing him to leave the game.
Huge congratulation to coL.CunCher, widely considered by the SC2 community to be the underdog in the match up. Be sure to tune into the rest of the TSL series and to cheer on CunCher when he plays in the round of sixteen.

Weekend number two of TSL3 features some big matchups, including our very own coL.CrunCher taking on the famous zerg Greg “EG.Idra” Fields.
The series doesn’t come without its share of controversy as the two players seem to have built some type of rivalry early in the life of StarCraft 2. Previously, EG.Idra appeared on JP McDaniel’s show “JP and Friends” and had some pretty rough things to say about our coL star. Now, he has fired more shots in his recent Team Liquid interview.
Q: Your first round opponent is a relatively unknown player – Cruncher. What are your thoughts about him?
I’m approaching the match as if it were a walkover.
Q: Are you confident you can beat him? Do you expect him to do any risky strategies against you?
Yes, he’s going to 4 gate all-in both games unless he decides to be clever and make voidrays or DTs.
Yesterday the good folks over at SCReddit announced that this week’s edition of the SCReddit Open (#26) will be the last. While this is sad news for the reddit.com/r/starcraft community, it’s not all bad.
The official post reads:
What’s going on?
As the SCReddit team takes on more and more responsibilities within the eSports scene, we’ve found it necessary to put an end to our role in the management of the SCRO and KotH series. We’re ecstatic that these events have enjoyed the success that they did for as long as they have, and we’re putting everything that we have into making this final SCRO as amazing as it can be. I’ll get into the details very soon, but first, I want to address a few concerns that a number of people have expressed to me, both in public and in private:
Are you quitting the eSports scene?
No! 100% no. In fact, the opposite is happening, and you’ll be seeing the people behind the SCReddit events taking up massively influential roles in the weeks and months to come, and though we can’t announce anything concrete just yet, we’ll be sure to drop as many hints as we can, starting this Saturday during the SCRO broadcast.”
It sounds like the SCReddit team is making some major moves in the eSports world. Hopefully they will be opening another avenue in eSports to both professional gamers and amateurs alike.
Be sure to tune into the final SCReddit Open, which kicks off on this Saturday, the 26th at 3:00 PM EST.

For the fourth time in a row, compLexity’s own CrunCher has shown that no one can best him in The V. In a 4-0 blowout versus Evil Geniuses’ StrifeCro, CrunCher was clearly more prepared player. As per usual, CrunCher displayed tight micro, sharp force field placement, and well thought out strategies, earning him such quick wins. In game three he even brought out a Mothership, using it’s cloaking field to cover his Colossus ball while Phoenix picked off the StrifeCro’s Overseers. If CrunCher brings this same play to Sunday’s TSL3 match versus Idra, the notorious Gracken might be in some trouble.
The V

Each week we will invite two professional SC2 players to square off for a $100 cash prize. The winner will return the next week to take on a new challenger. In addition, every week we will offer viewers the chance to enter to win great prizes, including the new Sound Blaster Tactic Headset.
