SK Denies Na`Vi Rumors

October 21st, 2010

Earlier today, HLTV.org reported that there was a rumor that SK-Gaming was looking to sign Natus Vincere, considered by many to be the world’s best team at this time. With SK having roster issues as of late, the aquisition of Na`Vi would mean stability and performence.

SK, however, denied those rumors today in a blog on the SK site by Alexander T. ‘TheSlaSH’ Müller-Rodic. In his short blog, he states the following:

Let’s make this quick and short.

HLTV has posted an article that indicates SK is to sign Na’Vi to play under their ranks in 2011.

All I can say is that this will not happen.

And to avoid unnecessary comments, Robban’s health condition right now is serious. Please respect that we will not comment on this topic any further than this information. We hope to have him back and healthy within our team soon.

With this blog, it is safe to stay that Na`Vi will remain under the sponsorship of Kazakh millionaire Murat “Arbalet” Zhumashevich and SK will continue to develop their current roster. Click here to see the HLTV.org rumor and here to see the blog on SK.

WoW Postponed for MLG Dallas

October 20th, 2010

According to the Major League Gaming organization, the World of Warcraft tournament planned for MLG Dallas, which includes the season’s championship, has now been postponed due to Cataclysm.

The following release was provided by MLG:

Due to technical complications related to the upcoming World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion pack, the 2010 MLG Pro Circuit World of Warcraft National Championships will have to be postponed. This means that there will be no WoW Finals Event on site at MLG Dallas, and subsequently no WoW live stream. However, MLG will still hold a 2010 National Championships for WoW at a later date, and more details about that Event will be released in a follow-up announcement.

We sincerely apologize for the necessary delay in holding this highly anticipated event. The technical complications are a byproduct of the WoW Arena needing to be disabled temporarily prior to Cataclysm’s launch, the period of which happens to align with MLG Dallas’ dates. We are working with Blizzard to get a full understanding of when the Arena will be up and running in the necessary capacity to complete our 2010 World of Warcraft Season.

Blizzard has been and continues to be an incredible partner to MLG, and we understand that the development cycle and release of a game as massive as WoW: Cataclysm can’t always take our needs into account. We thank you for your understanding, and look forward to bringing you further news about the rescheduled 2010 World of Warcraft National Championships.

More information about this decision can be found here.

dkt Retires

October 20th, 2010

For years, Brian “dkt” Flander has been at the focal point of the gaming community, playing in hundreds of tournaments, with thousands of matches across a variety of games. Today, Brian has officially announced his retirement via his blog on our site.

In his blog, Brian states that he will continue to play Quake Live, however it will be in a casual nature. He also plans to continue his DKT brand and has plans to start a gaming league in the future.

Below is an excerpt from the blog:

My wife and I are going to have a child around May 3rd. So I am officially hanging it up. Will I keep playing? Of course, I will ALWAYS be a gamer. I will still try to attend QuakeCon, but attending other events, especially out of the country, is just not going to happen. I’m planning on playing the WoW expansion as well and any other MMORPG that ever manages to be good. (Too many have tried and failed.)

We would like to wish Brian the best of luck as he takes the next step in his life. The original blog post can be found by clicking here.

coL @ IEM5 American Championship Movie

October 20th, 2010

Two weekends ago, coL.br took to New York City where they participated in the Intel Extreme Masters 5 American Finals, playing for a chance to take home $11,000 and secure a place at the IEM5 Global Finals in Hannover, Germany during CeBit. CompLexity fought through group place, going undefeated into the semi-finals where they would meet up with Dinc, the former Loaded team. coL.br managed to take down Dinc in 3 maps, advancing to the grand finals where they would take on EG. Both EG and coL proved that they wanted the win as the matches went back and forth over the course of all 3 maps before CompLexity pulled ahead and grabbed the victory along with the IEM5 American Championship.

After 2 consescutive hard drive failures and what seemed like a storm of technical issues, we’d like to present the coL @ IEM5 American Championship Movie produced by coL-LTD’s Nick “hvk” Cadwallader. The movie runs 3:16 in length and features frags from the playoffs and finals of the IEM5 American Championship against Dinc and Loaded. The movie is available for both stream and download in HD.

Blizzard Sues SC2 Hack Developers

October 19th, 2010

In a recent story by Gamespot, it has been discovered that Blizzard Entertainment has taken legal action against the programmers of cheat and hack software for StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty.

Last week, Blizzard filed a lawsuit against 3 different programmers on the grounds of creating and distributing software which violates the terms of the Blizzard EUA, Battle.net ToS and copyright law.

According to Gamespot:

Blizzard is accusing the trio of multiple counts of copyright infringement and is demanding damages and disgorgement of any profits reaped by the distribution and sale of the hacks. The company also accused the defendants of inducing others to infringe on their copyright, saying, “When users of the Hacks download, install, and use the Hacks, they copy StarCraft II copyrighted content into their computer’s RAM in excess of the scope of their limited license, as set forth in the EULA and ToU, and create derivative works of StarCraft II.”

Blizzard has not commented on the lawsuits due to their sensitive nature as they are pending trial. Stay tuned to CompLexityGaming for updates on this story.
