coL.cs ESWC 2010 Melee – Group Day 2

July 1st, 2010

Group Day 2

Day 2 begins with 12 teams after the field of 28 was cut down after close to 10 hours of matches in day 1 of group play. coL.cs made it to day 2 automatically due to TyLoo dropping out of the event and k1ck disputing a switch that would have put them alongside coL and Na`Vi. Still, an extremely close match between coL and Na`Vi opened the eyes of many spectators and proved that both teams have what it takes.

coL.cs finds themselves in Group D for Day 2 along with WMF, Fnatic and Alternate. Matches for Group D are set to begin at 9:30AM on July 2nd.

At their training base in the Ukraine, Na`Vi was interviewed by HLTV.org. With Na`Vi being coL’s first opponent for this upcoming ESWC, we thought it would be fitting for the fans to get to know them. Thanks to spiritamonkk for the English subtitles. June 30th, 2010

Group Day 1

Starting on Thursday, July 1st 2010, 27 teams will decend upon Disneyland Paris for the Electronic Sports World Cup for 2010. coL.cs has been in the midst of some controversy early on, with their group, Group F, only including 2 teams with coL being one of them. Because of this, both coL and Navi will advance into the second group stage.

The first group matches are set to begin at 10AM CET, which means as early as 4AM on the east coast of the USA. Stay tuned for live coverage of the event all week!

K1ck Back to Group D

June 30th, 2010

Yesterday we posted that K1ck had filed a dispute with ESWC in regards to their removal from Group D and their placement into Group F along with Na`Vi and CompLexity. The dispute came once it was announced that TyLoo.raw would be unable to attend, leaving Group F with 2 teams.

After consideration from the ESWC tournament officials, it was been announced that K1ck will be moved back to Group D, where they will join their original three opponents.

With Group F only consisting of Na`Vi and coL, the two teams would technically not even need to play each other in order to advance. It is undetermined as to what will happen in this case. We will update you as soon as more information is provided.

G7 ESWC Action Plan Announced

June 30th, 2010

For the past few months, many have speculated as to what the next move by G7 would be in regards to the new ESWC. With new events and promises from the new ESWC management coming to fruition, G7 has decided to support the new ESWC, but still hold them accountable for the owed prize money. To accomplish this, the G7 teams have offered to put aside 10% of any prize money won at this year’s ESWC in order to begin paying off the 2008 winners.

The official G7 press release is below:

Less than a day remains before the eSports World Cup brand holds its first event in almost two years. As such, it is now the appropriate time for the G7 Federation of Teams to publicly state its position on the ESWC and its corresponding action plan going forward.

The G7 has been in direct communication with the ESWC and its owners for a significant period of time since the brand was acquired and announced an upcoming event. After our correspondence with the brand’s owners about the ESWC’s unresolved prize money debts initially showed promise, with the ESWC stating its intention to pay back (at the very least) its 2008 winners, the subject quickly fell off of the table. While the ESWC did provide the G7 Teams and the eSports community with some tangible proof that 2010’s prize money would be paid out quickly after the event, the ESWC has not sufficiently addressed the subject of unresolved debts from past events, including 2008.

We all want to see ESWC make a successful resurgence into the eSports scene – but not at the expense of past ESWC champions (most notably, those from 2008) who have still neither received their winnings, nor received any sufficient statement of intent from ESWC regarding how their winnings will be paid back. Therefore, the G7 Teams will attend ESWC 2010, but with the following additional group actions and stipulations:

1) Since the ESWC is yet to address prize money owed to past winners, including those from 2008, the G7 Teams will allocate 10% of prize money won at ESWC 2010 to the ESWC 2008 winners. All none G7 teams are more than welcome to follow and make it public on their websites.

2) The G7 Teams will allow ESWC a 90-day grace period, beginning from the end of the ESWC 2010 event. During this grace period, the ESWC must both pay 2010’s prize money in full and publicly address the issue of prize money owed from 2008. If both of these requirements are not met within 90 days after ESWC 2010, the G7 Teams will immediately place ESWC on boycott status.

3) Within the month following ESWC 2010, the G7 Teams will also make public our action plans for other event brands with outstanding prize money debts.

The G7 Federation of Teams is committed to exhausting all available resources in pursuit of the prize money owed to gamers around the world. We will continue to provide the global eSports community with updates on our progress and correspondence with event brands currently owing outstanding prize money.
