Area 51 Calls It Quits

June 3rd, 2010

Today, the Area 51 TF2 squad decided to call it in and quit this season of ESEA for good. After a very unsuccessful season of ESEA-I in the TF2 division, Area 51 held a record of 0-16. The players have left the roster and have decided to change the team name from Area 51 to “0-16” on their ESEA TF2 page, which can be found here.

In addition, the team has also opt-out of this season of CEVO as well, stating “were done with everything”. In a short interview on eseanews.com, Area 51’s leader and medic Len “CB” Talarico answered a few questions regarding the current status of the team and if they have future plans of returning to the competitive scene.

Hey, just a couple quick questions about the detag – you guys done for CEVO too? Or do you plan to finish out the season?

No, were done with everything.

Done for future seasons, too then? No reforming next season?

No our team is officially done for good.

Any plans to stay in TF2? For your or any of the guys?

I hope to be able to play next season, just depends on what happens in the off-season I guess. I’m not sure of any of the other guys plans.

Sorry for the dumb, obvious question but – any particular reason for the breakup?

When u lose 14 straight the game obviously isn’t going to be fun anymore – but more than that I wasn’t really happy from the beginning of the season when we lost cbear and stam. Things just never fell into place like they had the season before, and I just decided it was best to call it quits.

Twixz Interviewed by Gotfrag

June 1st, 2010

Our very own compLexity Black World of Warcraft player Mike “Twixz” Shane sat down with Gotfrag to discuss the upcoming 2010 MLG Pro Circuit Columbus event, which is scheduled to kick off this Friday, June 4th. Below is an excerpt of the interview.

What are your expectations for Columbus? Do you feel coL.Black is fully prepared for all the comp variations coming in?

coL.Twixz: My expectations for Columbus are the same as they have been from the 1st event we ever attended. I don’t think anyone goes there to lose or to just “hang out”. We all want to win, and if that isn’t an expectation of every team in attendance then something is wrong. I feel we are prepared for the comp variations as much as we can be, there is only so much you can do. Comp variations is part of the game so I think it’s something once again everyone should prepare for.

Do you feel there is one specific team you are out to compete with or may give you some trouble in Columbus?

coL.Twixz: I don’t feel there is one specific team out there to compete with or that might give us trouble, but one team I’m always looking forward to seeing is former Button Bashers team, Loaded. There’s just something about them and there style gets me pumped for the weekend. I’m looking forward to the new lineup they have and “what” they may run.

coL.cs to Miss Dreamhack

June 1st, 2010

June 01, 2010 – Houston, TX Today Complexity Gaming is sad to have to announce that our Counter-Strike squad will be unable to attend Dreamhack Summer. Due to our recent extended trip to Sweden, Jeff “hero” Mettetal was unable to secure the necessary time off to attend the June event.  We have tried over the past few days to find a way to make it work but it will be impossible for us to attend.  We would like to apologize to the fans and Dreamhack for having to bow out.

We at Complexity always stress to our players the importance of school and work over gaming and in this case there was no way to get around life commitments.  The Counter-Strike team will still see lots of action this summer so stay tuned to Complexitygaming.com for updates.

GotFrag Spotlight: coL.Red

May 31st, 2010

The start of the 2010 MLG PC Circuit gets underway this Friday in Coulumbus, Ohio. GotFrag breaks down the coL.Red players and the possible comps they might run.

Here is a snippet of the article.

Reckful – Extremely experienced and versatile rogue that can play any of the specs available if needed to. He will most likely play shadowdance for RLD and Mutilate for RMP.

Venruki – Considered as one of the best North American mages, his reaction time and ability to control is almost unmatchable by any other players. Will most likely play frost but has shown the community of his experience with arcane in previous tournaments.

You can find the rest of the break down on GotFrag.

PG2: coL.cs vs Ruins

May 30th, 2010

Postgame

coL.cs came out to a slow start against a strong Ruins team on de_lite and were unable to recover. Ruins was able to grab the t-side pistol round before coL finally grabbed the 5th round. Unfortunately for coL, it was all Ruins for the rest of the half. In the second half, coL.cs battled back to a 7-13 score, however Ruins proved to be too much and took the final set of rounds to make the score 16-7.

Pre-Game

Tonight, coL.cs returns to ESEA action after their two weeks in Sweden as they take on Ruins in Week 6:1 of the invite division. coL.cs comes into the match in 5th place in the standings, with several makeup matches required yet, while Ruins comes in with the 2nd place spot and a record of 10-2. Ruins also sports a 6 match win streak, however only one of their opponents was in the top 5. coL.cs will be looking to break the streak and set the tone for the rest of the season as the two teams face off on de_lite. The match is set to begin at 10PM EST. As always, coverage will be provided.
