Xp3 Interviewed by ESEANews

April 18th, 2010

David “Xp3” Garrido has recently been interviewed by ESEANews following coL.cs’s win over EG in the Grand Finals of the CEVO-P Season 12 Playoffs. The interview discusses the preperation prior to the event, as well as the thoughts on the matches themselves. Below is an excerpt from the interview:

In the first match on de_inferno your team jumped off to an early lead which eventually led to an unprecedented 15-0 first half. Walk us through the key points of the half if you could, from the opening pistol round until you knew the map was yours to lose.

Well first of all everyone played really well on the CT side, a lot of rounds were close but we ended up winning them. We were just playing round by round trying not to think about the score and I think that was the right thing to do, just focusing on not getting too confident. On T side we could have closed the match by winning the pistol but we didn’t, however, when you’re leading 15-0 after the first half it’s really hard to doubt, so we kept playing our game knowing we would get the 1 round needed to close the map.

With de_inferno in the bag you moved onto the second and what would be the final map of the series, de_nuke. Once again you started off strong, this time on the terrorist side and took the first half 12-3 before finishing off the match 16-3. How were you able to dismantle their defense so easily, and how well did you prepare specifically for this finals match-up?

Since we started playing we feel pretty comfortable on nuke with our strats and everything so we just played our game like we do in practice and I’m glad it worked out that well. Like I said we just ran our strats, we didn’t really do anything special against them. Of course we all know a couple of things about how they play since we’ve played against them so many times with our past teams but we don’t focus on that, we just focus on our game.

Jumpy Retires, New MYM member announced

April 18th, 2010

Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson hopped on board with Meet Your Makers in September of 2009 to become their new strat caller. His impact on the team was very apparent after a first place finish at Dreamhack 2009. Jumpy also fell just shy of leading the team to another first place finish after finishing second at EM Dubai.

Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson is calling it quits because he needs to find a balance between his life and Counter-Strike at this time. Jumpy said on the MYM Site:

My performance during the last couple of months has been up and down due to lack of motivation and energy so I felt that my teammates should play with someone who has the motivation and the energy that I don’t have.

With the loss of a player always comes a new fresh face. The person who will be replacing Jumpy is Frej “kHRYSTAL” Sjöström. kHRYSTAL will not be coming in as the new strat caller. Instead, Emil “FYRR73” Karlsson, will move up as the teams new in game leader.

The new MYM roster is as follows:

Frej ‘kHRYSTAL’ Sjöström
Marcus ‘zet’ Sundstrom
Faruk ‘pita’ Pita
Emil ‘FYRR73’ Karlsson
Marcus ‘Delpan’ Larsson

April 17th, 2010

Week 2 of CEVO-P has now come to an end. With a total of eight matches in the two weeks, only three have been played. EG and Mindbomb are now out of CEVO-P for failure to “Ready up”.

Recently it has been rumored that Mindbomb was joining the blight organization and would become blight.iq. Nothing has been announced from either team on what is going on or what will be happening in the near future.

We will keep you updated as soon as either team or CEVO makes an announcment on the situation.

Carnage from compLexity TF2 had this to say:

I say CEVO should move two teams up. Five teams is great and all, but we need more variety. It will also give two more teams the experience playing against the top teir teams and will help our community grow.

”We are of course very proud that we get to arrange the Swedish qualifications 2010. We realized that Sweden of course must take part in the well renowned tournament in Paris. As we have been responsible and have held other qualifications we thought in the best interest of E-Sport and took it upon us to host a task no one else seemed willing to take, thanks to the initiative from the E-sport team Druidz. And now we aim to do our best for ESWC and the players themselves, even though time is short we will go all out for the games we have chosen to hold within the E-Sport witch I think the E-Sporters will be satisfied with.” – Daniel Abdiu, Swedish E-Sport Association

Other representatives for Sweden will be appointed under one weekend preliminary the 5th-6th of June. Street Fighter Iv and QuakeLive will be played at GameCity Gamingcenter in Jönköping and in the evening Guitar Hero 5 takes the stage at one of Jönköpings most renowned night clubs or Gamecity. It all ends with a unforgettable E-Sports party with all the qualified players and the four games are in focus.

”ESWC have under many years been very popular and at the same time one of the bigger international E-Sport event every year. It feels fantastic that the qualifications will be held and we can show the other countries what Sweden can do. Unfortunately due to short notice and planning we can only hold the qualifications for four games this time around, but better that then miss out on this great opportunity for Sweden”.– Andreas Westman, Event Coordinator

MediaPartner will be CtrlAltElite who will be in charge for all the media production and at the event make documentation including, photography, interviews and so on. We of course welcome other E-Sport medias to follow the qualifications.

Atari Game Sells for $31,600

April 15th, 2010

According to Retrothing.com, some Atari lover paid $31,600 for Air Raid, a very rare Atari 2600 game. Said to be the only original box known to exist, and only one of 20 cartridges, it has proven to be a hot commodity amongst eBay buyers. After ending on April 10th, 2010, the game sold for $31,600 and has been deemed the most expensive video game cartridge ever. This may prove to be a troublesome transaction, however, as the final prices has exceeded PayPal limits, forcing the buyer and seller to find another means of payment.
