Sometimes things just don’t go according to plan. Such is the case for the compLexity Dota 2 team competing this week in Vilnius, Lithuania during the GameShow GEC Finals. While we will now proceed with what we believe is our best course of action, we want to explain to our fans what led to this point and what will happen going forward.

In last week’s announcement we stated that we would be moving forward with a six man roster, with Chessie as our primary core and ZyzzY as our backup. We felt this was the best way to proceed, and it paid off when ZyzzY stepped up to the plate for our final day of StarLadder online qualifiers, filling in for Chessie who had been feeling ill for the preceding 24 hours. We wanted to make sure that Chessie had the best opportunity to recover for the following day’s flights, so ZyzzY was tapped as our starter for the evening.

Unfortunately, ZyzzY informed us just a few hours after our StarLadder wins that he would not be attending the upcoming GameShow LAN. The team spoke at length on the matter, attempting to offer solutions, but it was clear that ZyzzY would not be traveling to the event, and would be stepping down from coL.Dota, effective immediately. ZyzzY may expand on his reasons in his own statement, but for now we will respect his privacy and limit our comments to stating that the decision was fully made by ZyzzY and he was in no way excluded from the event or removed from the team by the coL.Dota team or the compLexity organization.

With just over twelve hours before our flights we hoped that Chessie would make a recovery, but come Saturday morning it was clear he was not fit for travel. Chessie later saw a doctor that confirmed he should not be traveling with his flu-like symptoms, and would not be able to travel to any part of the GameShow GEC event. To be clear, this a separate medical issue from those that have prevented Chessie from competing for the last year. We anticipate this to be a temporary ailment, with no impact on his future ability to compete with the team.

With both primary options exhausted, the team reached out to other players, ultimately deciding on the Slovenian core PingVincek. Ping may be familiar to some coL.Dota fans, as he was playing with the team immediately following the Frankfurt Major qualifiers. He is now on his way to the event and will start at the core position in tomorrow’s matches. We are extremely grateful for his willingness to travel last minute and help our team in a time of need.

Tune in Tuesday at 10am local time (3am EST, 0900 CEST) and again at 8pm local time (1pm EST, 1900 CEST) to catch coL.Dota in action at the GameShow GEC LAN.

Today, compLexity Hearthstone is in Jönköping, Sweden for Dreamhack Winter 2015. SeatStory Cup Champion Jan “superjj” Janßen and newest member of the squad Simon “Sottle” Welch make the trip to the Swedish city in order to play some cards. superjj is on a high after his two championship victories just last week, winning the prestigious SeatStory Cup LAN event in Krefeld, Germany, followed by the time2win Invitiational merely two days later. Heading into the event on a 12-game-winning streak, the German coL player is one of the favorites moving into the stacked field of play.

Sottle on the other hand will dust off his competitive spirits and get back into the mindset, seeing as the British cardslinger hasn’t really participated in any major tournaments for a while. Putting his focus on casting as of late, he scored plenty of good jobs and opportunities using his expertise and charming British accent to dazzle the crowd. Now at DreamHack Winter, the dazzling needs to come through plays on the virtual tabletop.

Another winter, another DreamHack event with Hearthstone being featured. Since the first ever Hearthstone event at DreamHack Winter last year, compLexity Gaming has consistently sent players to Jönköping, Sweden to compete with the best of the best in one of the greatest events the eSports calendar has to offer.

The journey for both coL.HS members into the tournament will begin tomorrow at 11:30 CET / 5:30 EDT / 2:30 PDT. That is when the big Swiss portion of the 200-player open tournament officially kicks off in the exhibition halls of Elmia, once more the sight for DreamHack Winter 2015. Seven of the nine rounds will be played on the first day, as the last two deciding rounds of the Swiss tournament will take place on Friday morning. That Friday will have all the answers of which 16 players remain in the tournament and which player’s dreams of winning the lion’s share of $40,000 USD are still intact.

The bracket stage is scheduled to start around 17:00 CET / 11:00 EDT / 8:00 PDT on Friday, with all Round of 16 matches being played out that day. That leaves only the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and the Grand Finals on Saturday: The day that decides it all.

Beginning today, compLexity cs looks to bounce back from the BUYPOWER Cup 2015 event as they compete in the RGN Pro Series Championship in Santa Ana, California. Fifteen of the best teams from the Americas and one team from Australia will go head to head for their chance at the $30,000 prize pool. The event will be double elimination and will begin with a group stage.

Our very own compLexity Heroes of the Storm team has managed to secure their trip to China for the WCA 2015 Main Event! By taking down Cognitive twice today, 2-0 each time, the team has won $8,000 and their spot in the WCA 2015 Group Stage where they will be matched up with the worlds best Heroes of the Storm teams.
