Shanghai, China & Sint Maarten

Today compLexity StarCraft’s QXC will be flying out to Shanghai, China to participate in IEM Season VIII. QXC earned his spot at IEM by playing in the North American Qualifier, where he took second place. In the Qualifier QXC took out notable players such as Apocalypse, MajOr, Goswser, State, and fellow compLexity player Hendralisk.

Kicking off tomorrow, July 25th, QXC will be taking on the best StarCraft players from around the world. So far his group includes HerO and Jaedong, with one more player being added to the group once the first stage of the tournament is complete.

To watch QXC’s games, tune into the ESL Twitch.TV channel tomorrow at 9:00 PM EST.

Then, on the other side of the world, our very own Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez will be flying over the crystal clear waters of the Carribean Islands as he heads to Sint Maarten for the Video X-Games 2013 at Sonesto Bay Resorts. VxG will be taking place from tomorrow, the 25th to Sunday, the 28th and will feature the top gamers in the following fighting games:

coL.LoL and Academy in MOBAFire Challenger Series

Over the past two weeks, coL.LoL and the compLexity Academy LoL team have been participating in the MOBAFire Challenger Series (MCS). The MCS is an arena where the top teams in League of Legends have either qualified, or have been invited to participate in playing several matches a week to test their skills and better ready themselves for the qualifiers for the League Championship Series (LCS).

DreamHack Open was launched last year and now returns to bring you some of the best tournaments and eSports shows in the world. DreamHack Open 2013 keeps the core from last year including the appreciated tournament format and the praised Playoff-Show with the final eight players battling it out in front of an on-site live audience and DreamHack’s unique live stream experience. Also, all matches will be live streamed in Free HD (720p) just like all DreamHack events in the past.

Happy Birthday Aches!

The compLexity Gaming family would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Patrick “Aches” Price as he turns 19 today!

Patrick is the captain of the compLexity Call of Duty team and has been playing Call of Duty since the original released on Xbox. His competitive career began in Call of Duty 4. With the release of Modern Warfare 2, ACHES started seeing real success that led to multiple championships. He made his name in Call of Duty: Black Ops after winning two MLG championships in the 2011 season, a $25,000 online tournament, and much more while teaming up with Tyler ‘TeePee’ Polchow. Under the compLexity banner, he has led his Black Ops 2 team to many top placings and hopes to keep coL.CoD atop the Call of Duty scene. Most recently, Aches has led his team to victory at the MLG Spring Championship 2013 event and GFinity 2013 event in London.

Hendralisk Takes 2nd!; coL.SC2 @ Icy Cup

Today, compLexity.SC2 is at Icy Cup where both Hendralisk and Ryze are competing for The Icy Cup Trophy. The Icy Cup is an event organized by eSports Canada. Inspired by great tournaments such as Home Story Cup and the Lone Star Clash, eSports Canada brings the same spirit to Canada in the form of Icy Cup. The event is held in the home of the president of eSports Canada, Ken Silva.

Format

1 v 1 best of 3, double elimination tournament. Winner of losers bracket must win 2 best of 3’s in grand finals; winner of winners bracket needs only win one best of 3.

coL.COD Wins GFinity 2013!

Beginning today, compLexity will take on some of the best Call of Duty teams in the world as we compete in GFinity, in London, England. 

The Call of Duty tournament features 10 of the most popular and skilled teams from throughout Europe and North American competing for a prize pool of $55k. The winning team will net themselves $30k, the runners-up will receive $15k and the 3rd/4th placed sides take $5k each.

Groups

The teams will be split into two groups of five, Group Alpha and Group Bravo, and do battle in an initial round-robin style group stage which will take place on Saturday 13th July. Each group game will be best of 5 maps to determine the winner of the match.

At the end of Saturday 13th July, the team with the least amount of points/team finishing in 5th place in each group will be eliminated from the competition.

The competition will then proceed in a single-elimination straight knock-out fashion on Sunday 14th July, with each knock-out game being determined by best of 5 maps to determine the winner of the match.

The placements in the initial group games will determine the match-ups in the knock-out stage. The 1st placed side from Group Alpha facing the 4th placed side from Group Bravo, 2nd placed Group Alpha facing 3rd placed side from Group Bravo and so forth.

The final of the Gfinity Call of Duty Championship will be determined in a best of 5 match and will decide who will be crowned champions and the worthy winner of our $30k top prize.
