Changes to coL.LoL; Brunch Retires

April 20th, 2013

Today we are sad to announce that our teammate Josh “brunch Ü” Abrantes has decided to retire from professional gaming. We are disappointed that he will not be competing under the compLexity banner any longer but are honored that we had the opportunity to work with him.

Josh had this to say to his followers on Twitter:

The compLexity League of Legends team will be competing in the League Championship Series North American qualifier, likely against Quantic Gaming in a best-of-five series, which is set to take place on May 12th. The qualifier match will determine if the team is invited back into LCS for the second half of Season 3.

With the retirement of Brunch Ü and the upcoming qualifier looming, the AD carry role will temporarily be played by none other than Sam “Chuuper” Chu, who was recently replaced by Neil “Pr0lly” Hammad.

coL.LoL vs Curse, MRN in LCS Week 10

April 19th, 2013
compLexity 8-18 VS 19-7 Curse Gaming

The final two games for the tenth week of the LCS will be played today. The first game is against the top rated team, Curse. Out of the three games these teams have played against each other, Curse has won all three. Today, coL.LoL is looking to score one win off of this team, before they might not be able to play them again. The last game they played, coL.LoL had a very strong lead in the early and middle game, but were unable to close out the game for the win. Knowing that they can beat Curse, they just have to end as strong as they start, coL.LoL is prepared for the challenge that will be this game. Curse’s roster consists of Voyboy (Top Lane), Saint Vicious (Jungler), NyJacky (Mid Lane), Cop (AD Carry), and Elementz (Support).

This match is scheduled to begin at 2PM PDT / 5PM EDT.

In the second day of Super Week, coL.LoL will be going up against Team SoloMid. These teams have played against each other three times before with TSM picking up the win in all three. TSM cannot be underestimated however, because they too are 2-0 for this week’s matches with their roster of veteran plays such as Dyrus (Top Lane), TheOddOne (Jungler), Reginald (Mid Lane), WildTurtle (AD Carry), and Xpecial (Support).

coL.HoN All-In at the HoN Tour Grand Finals

April 17th, 2013

by Kyle “beef” Bautista

The playoffs are over, the brackets are set, and the teams are in route as 20 of Heroes of Newerth’s top players travel to Sin City to compete for $60,000 in the HoN Tour Season 1 Grand Finals. Qualifiers for the event started more than six months ago where nearly 20,000 players tried to make their mark. Eight two-week competition cycles later, the top four teams were invited to participate in the first ever HoN Tour Grand Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Held in the Hardwood Suite at the Palms Casino and Resort, the tournament offers a unique VIP experience with host S2 Games treating players to limousine rides, award winning shows, and other exclusive perks.

compLexity’s journey to the Grand Finals started in October 2012 where they were the designated as the favored team in the HoN Tour Qualifiers.  After an upsetting early drop into lower bracket, coL.HoN was eliminated by rival team Trademark eSports, and finished in third place. The losses were the team’s first since being acquired in the Summer of 2012. After a taste of their mortality, the boys in black and red would be denied in five consecutive series to Trademark eSports, resulting in second place finishes for the first two HoN Tour cycles, and a silver medal at DreamHack Winter LAN.

Throughout the rest of the season, compLexity experienced a series of ups and downs. The team took a hard blow when jungle player Chessie left to join the Miami powerhouse stayGreen, just after the new-year. While searching for a replacement, coL.HoN failed to make the podium, and posted a handful of 5 – 8 finishes during the middle cycles. compLexity rebounded late in the season with the addition of Andrew “Riser_” Bronze (formerly of Tt eSPORTS) and made it to the podium in the final three HoN Tour cycles.  The team capped off their season with a first place performance in the prestigious $30,000 Sound Blaster Heroes League.

coL.HoN is heading in to the tournament with confidence, despite having to face Trademark eSports in their first match on Wednesday.  Trademark eSports brought home an impressive four of the first five HoN Tour cycle championships and boasts a strong record against compLexity, including a victory in the Garena Star League Qualifier 2 Grand Finals, which denied the coL.HoN team a trip to Thailand and a chance at $60,000.

The tournament’s other participants include Swedish team LION eSportsKlubb, who comes in with momentum from their recent victory in the HoN Tour Playoffs, and stayGreen, who rides in fresh off a  victory in Thailand and three consecutive HoN Tour Cycle championships.

The HoN Tour Grand Finals will surely be a memorable weekend for players and fans alike. The stakes are high in the city of Sin and each team will be looking to strike it rich in the Hardwood Suite. Tune in all week for compLexity’s continued coverage of the HoN Tour Grand Finals.

coL.LoL vs Dignitas, GGU in LCS Week 10

April 17th, 2013

Today marks the beginning of the second and final ‘Super Week’ in the League of Legends Championship Series. This week, coL.LoL will play against 5 dfferent teams throughout the week, with their first and second match airing today.

compLexity 6-17 VS 16-7 Dignitas

Post-Game

The first match of this Super Week was an overwhelming success. coL.LoL was able to play this game to their strengths using a strategy they formulated during their time off. Early in the game, coL.LoL were able to secure two kills after M eye A landed two amazing Death Sentences, setting up Brunch U for the kills. Utilizing the huge amount of area of effect damage from Miss Fortune, Gragas and Jayce, coL.LoL were able to engage in fights favourably and take objectives promptly. After 40 minutes of dominating play, coL.LoL was able to finally push into the base of Dignitas and take out the nexus.

Pre-Game

The first match for today is against Team Dignitas. In the three games that they have played against each other, coL.LoL only won one of the matches. This will be the first match Team Dignitas will play against coL.LoL with their new lineup. As this is the final week, each match is extremely important. Every game that is played this week will ultimately decide the final season standings. Last week, Dignitas had a substitute jungler, but this week Crumbzz is back for them so coL.LoL has to play extremely safe using wards to spot out potential ganks. Dignitas’ current roster is KiWiKid (Top Lane), Crumbzz (Jungler), Scarra (Mid Lane), Imaqtpie (AD Carry), and Patoy (Support).

This match is set to air at 1PM PDT / 4PM EDT.

compLexity 6-17 VS 9-14 GGU

Post-Game

In their second match today, coL.LoL was able to use similar strategies from their first game to completely dominate Good Game University. Using the team composition they had originally planned for Team Dignitas, coL.LoL were confident in their play and they took an early lead. Using a buddy system constantly, coL.LoL did not suffer any losses early on in the game, and were able to secure all of the Dragons, as well as easily taking out turrets increasing gold their map pressure. After a couple of won teamfights, coL.LoL were able to pressure GGU enough to make them stay in base and defend their inhibitor turrets. Using the poke from Pr0lly and Nickwu, coL.LoL were able to take out the inhibitors of GGU’s base and after winning a very one-sided fight, destroying GGU’s nexus making their current Super Week record 2-0.

Pre-Game

The second match coL.LoL will play in today is against Good Game University. Last week, coL.LoL had a disappointing show against GGU, playing awkwardly and being unable to initiate favourable teamfights. This week, coL.LoL is out for redemption for last week, looking to improve their head to head record against GGU which is currently 1 win to 2 losses. Perhaps this game not as many unconventional champions will be picked, but nothing can be ruled out. Good Game University’s current roster consists of ZionSpartan (Top Lane), NintendudeX (Jungler), Jintae (Mid Lane), DontMashMe (AD Carry) and BloodWater (Support).

This match is scheduled to air at 3PM PDT / 6PM EDT.

coL.LoL vs GGU in LCS Week 9

April 12th, 2013
compLexity 6-16 VS 7-14 GGU

Today for the second and final match of this week, coL.LoL will be going up against Good Game University. After yesterday’s extremely close game with Curse, coL.LoL is extremely confident that they can finish this week off with a win. The current head to head record for these two teams is 1-1 for this season. GGU however, have not played against coL.LoL with their new roster and so they are at a disadvantage. With Pr0lly bringing out another unconventional mid laner yesterday, there is no way to tell what today will bring. If GGU loses their earlier match to Dignitas, and coL.LoL defeats them, coL.LoL will move up in rankings to rank 7. GGU’s roster consists of ZionSpartan (Top Lane), NintendudeX (Jungler), Jintae (Mid Lane), DontMashMe (AD Carry) and BloodWater (Support).

The match is scheduled to air this evening at 5PM PDT / 8PM EDT.

coL.LoL vs Curse in LCS Week 9

April 11th, 2013
compLexity 6-15 VS 16-4 Curse Gaming

For their first match of this week, coL.LoL will be taking on the current top team in the League of Legends Championship Series, Curse. Curse has beaten coL.LoL twice before, but have not played against them using their new roster. After winning against CLG and Vulcun last week, coL.LoL beleive they can keep the wins coming. Now that they have had some time to practice with their new Mid Laner, Pr0lly, coL.LoL will be operating at full potential, meaning that this match will be one to watch for sure. Taking down Curse will not be a simple task, however, as their roster boasts top players such as Voyboy (Top Lane), Saint Vicious (Jungler), NyJacky (Mid Lane), Cop (AD Carry), and Elementz (Support).

This match is scheduled to broadcast tonight at 3PM PDT / 6PM EDT.
