coL.LoL vs MRN & Dignitas in LCS Week 6

March 22nd, 2013
compLexity 3-10 VS 4-9 MRN

Post-Game

After a nearly 30 minute match, coL.LoL fell victim to Team MRN. Early game pressure onto BrunchU put coL.LoL at a disadvantage that they were not able to come back from. Strong lane play from MRN was able to shut down the gold and experience income from coL.LoL, showing their skill in this first matchup. Next week, these two teams meet again where coL.LoL looks to retaliate with a win over Team MRN.

Pre-Game

The second match this week is the first between coL.LoL and MRN this season. New and exciting play will be required from both of these teams to secure a victory. Knowing that MRN has beaten some of the top teams in the LCS, coL.LoL knows that this team cannot be underestimated. With MRN having a recent roster change, none of the teams know what to expect and so pressure to come out victorious has increased substantially. The current roster for Team MRN consists of MegaZero (Top Lane), ClakeyD (Jungler), Ecco (Mid Lane), Nientonsoh (AD Carry), and AtomicN (Support).

This match is set to begin at 4PM PST / 7PM EST.

compLexity 3-10 VS 13-4 Dignitas

Post-Game

Unlike last week, coL.LoL was unable to win against Dignitas. Superior ganks and uneven kill trades gave Dignitas an upper hand. Although most of the game was fairly even, the team fights were what really set the two teams apart. After a couple of back-and-forth clashes, Dignitas was able to come up with a win one too many times. After their second baron, Dignitas pushed into coL.LoL’s base to destroy the nexus and earning the victory.

Pre-Game

The final match of the League of Legends Championship Series this week will be a heated rematch between coL.LoL and Team Dignitas. Set to air at 6PM PST / 9PM EST, this is a match that must  be watched and is the closing match for this week. Last week, coL.LoL was able to upset Dignitas (then the top ranked team), with decisive play and continual pressure. Tonight, coL.LoL has to prove that their standards of play have increased substantially because Dignitas does not want to suffer another loss. Dignitas’ current roster consists of KiWiKid (Top Lane), Crumbzz (Jungler), Scarra (Mid Lane), Imaqtpie (AD Carry), and Patoy (Support). This is an extremely important match for coL.LoL, so be sure to tune in to show support!

coL.LoL vs Vulcun in LCS Week 5

March 16th, 2013
compLexity 2-8 VS 5-9 Vulcun

This weekend brings the fifth week of the League of Legends Championship Series live from MLG Dallas! One game a day will be played by coL.LoL, spanning over the next three days, as they battle with the best teams in North America. After a two week vacation from the LCS, every team will be at peak performance. New and exciting strategies are expected as well as refreshed game-play and clarity of thinking. Not only will all teams perform better, they will have to perform better in front of a live audience, which can be extemely intimidating. All teams will have a challenge this week, and coL.LoL’s second challenge will come against Vulcun Command.

Post-Game

After nearly an hour long matchup, coL.LoL came out victorious over Vulcun, leaving coL.LoL with a 2 win 0 loss record for this MLG Dallas weekend. This game was played nearly dead even with kill trades and tower kills for the majority of the game. It wasn’t until coL.LoL attempted the first baron that things started to look grim. Diana was able to push the bottom lane all of the way into coL.LoL’s base and destroy their bottom inhibitor. This put coL.LoL in an extremely defensive position. As soon as their inhibitor respawned, coL.LoL decided they would push middle lane and take down Vulcun’s inhibitor while Vulcun secured the second baron of the game. Another stand still occurred as both teams played defensive until Vulcun’s inhibitor came back up. After a failed fight trying to take down the second tier bottom tower, Vulcun was able to push coL.LoL’s middle lane securing the second tier turret. It was at this time that baron had respawned, and coL.LoL was able to catch Nasus pushing top lane. This gave them the advantage to take baron. Noticing that coL.LoL was going for Baron, Vulcun decided to push into coL.LoL’s base – allowing for a potential base race. After securing the baron, coL.LoL killed the middle inhibitor of Vulcun, and immediately backed to defend their base. During this defence they were able to kill off three members of Vulcun, including the elusive Diana with an excellent bandage toss from Lautemortis playing Amumu. With the three members of Vulcun down for a long period of time, coL.LoL was able to push up middle and destroy Vulcun’s nexus!

Pre-Game

The second game this weekend is going to be up against Vulcun Command. Last week these two teams met and had a very close game with Vulcun having an early game advantage and coL.LoL almost securing a comeback against them. Now that the two weeks of pure training has past for both teams, this game will prove which team made the most of their training. compLexity is coming into this match fresh off an upset victory over Dignitas. Although Vulcun is ranked sixth in the LCS, Vulcun has overcome CLG, which is a feat in itself. With a roster of Sycho Sid (Top Lane), Xmithie (Jungler), mandatory cloud (Mid Lane), Zuna (ADC), and Muffinqt (Support), we expect to see one action packed game.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7PM EST / 6PM CST / 4PM PST.

coL.LoL vs Dignitas in LCS Week 5

March 15th, 2013
compLexity 1-8 VS 10-2 Dignitas

This weekend brings the fifth week of the League of Legends Championship Series live from MLG Dallas! One game a day will be played by coL.LoL, spanning over the next three days, as they battle with the best teams in North America. After a two week vacation from the LCS, every team will be at peak performance. New and exciting strategies are expected as well as refreshed game-play and clarity of thinking. Not only will all teams perform better, they will have to perform better in front of a live audience, which can be extemely intimidating. All teams will have a challenge this week, and coL.LoL’s first challenge is going up against Team Dignitas.

Post-Game

In the first game of the LCS this week, coL.LoL was up against the current top ranked team, Team Dignitas. The last time they faced off, coL.LoL was completely shut out. This game follows a much different path. Early in the game, coL.LoL was able to secure first blood and another kill, while Dignitas traded for another two kills. Shortly after, another two for two trade was given from both teams. All of the kills for coL.LoL however, were all from Lautemortis playing Cho’Gath in the jungle. This gave him an extreme advantage and was able to effortlessly bully each lane and keep Dignitas from gaining any advantage. With pressure added to each and every lane, as well as the poke damage that comes along with coL.LoL’s team composition allowed them to easily secure objectives, giving them the lead they needed over such a hard team to take down. Thirty minutes into the game, coL.LoL was making a move for Dignitas’ last bottom turret and managed to get a massive team wipe with a five for nothing trade. Later while dancing around the thought of taking baron, Chuuper on Kha’Zix jumped into Dignitas’ base and took down the two nexus turrets. With the added pressure of having no middle nexus turrets, Dignitas was forced to back. coL.LoL then secured dragon, baron, and ultimately Dignitas’ Nexus bringing in a huge win for coL.LoL.

Pre-Game

The last time these two teams met, Dignitas used an unconventional middle lane tactic where their AD Carry and Support started in the middle lane. This worked in their favor because they took an early middle tower and had complete control of the map, shutting down coL.LoL. This week, coL.LoL expects to put up much more of a fight as they have been practicing hard for the last two weeks as a team. Dignitas’ roster consists of KiWiKid (Top Lane), Crumbzz (Jungler), Scarra (Mid Lane), Imaqtpie (AD Carry), and Patoy (Support). This match is definitely one to watch as coL.LoL battles the first ranked team in the LCS, Dignitas.

A Score to Settle: coL.COD @ MLG Winter Championships

March 14th, 2013

by Anne “hubwub” Celestino

In a day’s time, the first major Call of Duty Black Ops II event for 2013 commences in Dallas, Texas. Players are flocking to Major League Gaming’s (MLG) Winter Championships as 204 teams vie for a part of the $50,000 prize pool and the right to participate in Activision’s $1,000,000 Call of Duty Championship.

With a convincing win over Swag Kills, the start of the Winter Championship’s online qualifiers were a breeze for compLexity. The mood shifted in the second round when coL faced Team FeaR in a problematic best-of-three series.

The first map, Hard Point on Standoff, saw compLexity leading 117 – 37 when Tyler “TeePee” Polchow was knocked offline via DDOS attack. This allowed FeaR to come back from a significant deficit and win. As a precautionary measure, the following map, CTF Raid, would not played on stream, yet FeaR emerged as the victor and dropped coL into the lower bracket. CompLexity COD Captain Patrick “ACHES” Price described the series against FeaR as “pathetic,” and expressed a deep disappointment in the decision not to replay.

“There were over 10,000 viewers watching the stream… we were by far the better team and everyone knew it,” said Price. “I was baffled at how FeaR acted like they won legitimately. We are both pro teams that have been doing this for years… I believe MLG should have forced a replay.” “People like that will never be respected by me or anyone on my team. You took the easy road, congrats.”

CompLexity got off to a smooth start in the lower bracket with 2-0 wins over Awe Sports and Quantic Gaming. The team would need all three maps to defeat Prime Example in the following round. In a highly anticipated match compLexity player Aaron “TuQuick” Chang faced off against his former team Fariko.Impact in the lower bracket. It was here that Chang and the rest of squad would suffer their second loss and bow out of the MLG Winter Championship online qualifiers. “Fariko is a really good team,” said Chang, “but the qualifiers don’t mean anything as we are a ‘LAN’ team.” “I can’t wait to play them again soon.”

After the disappointing loss, coL shifted their focus away from MLG to the Champions Series of League Play. There, compLexity’s time and effort paid off as the team earned one of the coveted eight $1,000,000 Call of Duty Championship online qualifier spots.

“We were by far the better team and everyone knew it. I was baffled at how FeaR acted like they won legitimately.”

compLexity Call of Duty Team Captain Patrick “ACHES” Price

Heading into Dallas, the journey for compLexity will be spent through the tiring gauntlet that is the open bracket where they will battle for one of 12 spots in the Winter Championships. Even with the team’s less than favorable starting position, compLexity has been predicted among the favorites. “A prediction is a prediction, to us they are nothing more than an opinion,” said compLexity COD player Ian “Crimsix” Porter. “It is important to remember that results are the only aspect we strive for.”

With scores to settle over Team FeaR and Fariko.Impact and an ever growing rivalry with the men in green, OpTic Gaming, (whom coL suffered defeat to at the UMG Chicago Grand Finals) the Winter Championships offer several compelling storylines and a handful of opportunities for “heightened emotions” according to Tyler “TeePee” Polchow.

“We definitely have a bigger rivalry with some teams such as OpTic or FeaR due to our past events and history.  We obviously want to prove that we are better than both of them and any team we face,” Polchow added. “Our results so far depict us as one of the top teams in the game, and I want to continue down the path to being the most successful Call of Duty team in history. Dallas will hopefully just be the next step.”

Stay tuned as we will be providing full Call of Duty coverage over the course of this weekend!
